Severe tree maintenance and pruning problems related to urban trees, which exist in big cities like Istanbul, largely originated from the faults in their first plantation plans. In addition to these faults, tree survival gets difficult with the stress factors on trees growing in urban ecosystems that have hard and extreme growing conditions. Consequently, resulting large desiccated and dead parts of trees require excessive pruning precautions. Such excessive prunings that are not done in a technical and systematical way drive trees to die. Typically plane trees in Bahcekoy Valide Sultan Street became dangerous elements of the street caused by unnatural, shapeless and unhealthy forms. It is impossible to bring a tree back to its healthy status when they were pruned with excessive prunings (lopping and topping) which are also disapproved by public. If it is necessary to prune a tree in this way, a replanting program must be taken into consideration in those places. The trees that have potential splitting or breaking risk must be secured with cabling and supporting. In addition, treated cavities must be braced depending on structural strength of tree stem.
