Nowadays sprout (coppice) forests are in agenda with their different features and functions in Turkish forestry. Corıversion of coppices is argued according to technical, economical and social aspects. Especially, sprout oriented understories in many coniferous plantations sometimes ca use formation of mistaken thoughts and observations both in education and in different application procedures during the forestry practices. Beside this, conversion methods in watersheds need a silvlcultural examination. In this paper, it was aimed to review those subjects in a critical manııer according to silvicultural point of view.
