In this article, the contemporary dimensions of "forest maturities" are mentioned within the frame of ever-changlng concepts and opinions about forest sources. Also, determining the complementary and a certain requirement non relations of "state of maturity" and "functional rotation" are examined. Then, information and opinions about the basic features, position and general definitions of the maturity concept, the stages in determining maturities and c1assifying types of maturities- are provided. Furthermore, the importance of maturities as to "funetional rotation" are emphasized through a few representative examples under the sourees of wood and reereation.
