Turkey has adopted and put many international agreements into force on the course to be a member of EV. One of the important agreements on environment that brings obligations is the European Lanscape Convention. The Convention as a framework agreement on conservation, management, and planning of natural and cultural lanscape has been a part of our legal system on 10th of June 2003 with a law numbered 4881. During the time period of 6 years, serious concerns have emerged about its implementation and stili no solid indicators are observed. The aim of this study is discuss the place of landscape planning concept brought by European Landscape Convention in Turkish Planning legislation. The first part of the study has been devoted to a brief introduction of the European Landscape Convention. In the second part, planning concept in Turkish legislation has been c1arified. In the foIlowing sections, landscape planning concept with its objectives and targets has been explained according to ecological vision and European Landscape Convention. In the last part, the place of landscape planning concept in Turkish Iegislation emerged from the convention has been explained, problems and solutions have been discussed.
