This study was carried out to construct a site chromology of Fagus orientalis Lipsky. which is one of the main tree species in Belgrade Forest, and to investigate the relationships betw een tree-ring w idth and m ean m onthly tem perature and total m onthly precipitation. As a result of tlıe m easurem ents and investigations on total 21 increm ent cores extracted from 11 trees, a site chronology covered 1921-2000 and coded as TRB EFA O R was constructed. In this forest w here the grow ing conditions w ere optim um an d w here is the low er distribution area of the species, the influence of the clim atic v ariables used in response functioıı analysis was 32 % . This vahıe was rath er low, and precipitation and tem perature except extrem e years did not affect tree ring w idth significantly. The forest had optim um grow ing conditions and w as a low elevation site for the tree species, therefore the influence of clim atic variables used in the response function was not significant except the precipitation in F eb ru ary .
