The Scolytidae is a fairly large family. it is rcprcscrıtcd by three subfamilies narncly Scolytinae, Hylesininac and Ipioac in Turkey. Totally 106 species belong to these subfamilies are recordcd from Turkey forests. Among those spccies the most economically important ones are Scolytus scolytus (Fabr.), S. multistriatus (:\-larsch.) (Scolytinae), Blastophagus piniperda (L.), Deııdroctoııus micaııs (Kug.) (Hylesininae), Cryp1ıalus abietis (Ratz.), C. picea (Ratz.), Pityokteine s curvidens (Gcrrn.), Orılıot omicus erosus (Woll.) Ips sexdentatus (Bocrn.), I. typograplıus (L.), Xyleborus dispar (Fabr.) and Xyloterus liııeatus (Oliv.) (Ipinac) in Turkey forests.
