This study was undertaken to investigate properties of high yield pulps from trembling aspen (Populus tremula L.) vvood, which is one of the most widespread pioneer forest tree in Turkey. For maximum utilization of vvood NSSC, high yield kraft and kraft AQ puiping methods were selected and compared vvith each other and with cold soda pulp. Optical and physical strength properties were determined for resulting pulps. Handsheets were evaluated for physical and optical properties as tensile, bursting and tearing strengths, ISO brightness, opacity and CIEL*a*b* color. The results showed that cold soda pulp from trembling aspen was the most suitable for high yield pulp purposes from studied methods.
