The purpose of this study is to determine socioeconomic results of village development projects, conducted in the forest villages of Istanbul-Şile in 1999-2008 periods by ORKOY. The material of the research has been obtained from the related literature, the interviews held by the managers of related institutions and surveys applied to forest villagers. The surveys have been applied to randomly select 117 subjects in 30 of forest village in the Şile town. In the research, frequency and the percent distribution tables, chi-square independence test, simple linear correlation and simple regression analysis had been used. Significance level has been accepted as 5%. Many socioeconomic findings have been reached in this research, by accepting the fundamental hypothesis of "ORKOY projects increase the welfare levels of forest villagers" and "ORKOY projects decrease the dependency of villagers to forests". As a result, it can be stated that in the research field ORKOY projects help to management of sustainable forest sources, in other words ORKOY uses the scarce public resources appropriately.
