STUDÎES ON THE PREVENTION OF DOTE IN BEECH LOGS AND BROWN STREAKS IN OAK LOGS WITH THEIR END CHECKS

Some of the factors reducing wood quality are decay and discoloration Logs and bolts of many hardvvood species can be protected from decay and discoloration during storage by Treating the ends \vith a ftmgicidal solution and a moisture - retarding coating the control checking. In this study beech (Fagus orientalis E.) and oalc (Quercus dschorochensis K. Koch) logs are used. Experiments are made in the log yards. The aim of the study \vas to reveal the effectivenness of the Chemical such as Immutol B and/or paraffin w ax emulsion on beech and oak logs. The observation suggest that it is possible to obtain suitable results \vith these Chemicals to prevent dote iın beech or bro\vn streaks in oak and end checks in some condition.
