The leisure tendencies of the individuals give direction to planning and build an im portant data for the planning vvorks. Ilovvever, concerning leisure tendencies several variables are effective, and tlıey affect each other. T herefore these factors can not be predicted in advent. It is rather difficult, to determ ine the distribution of the spare tim e activities as to settlem ents and the factors. The spare time activities have both econom ical and social dim ension. The site related specific planning factors m ust be determ ined and investigated. at the level of neighbourhood. In this context the ciıanges and differences in the leisure tendencies of individuals at the exam ple of the town of Çanakkale are determ ined. The paper presents this study and its results.
