Since 1937 a great deal of effort is being devoted to enlarge forested area by reforestation of unproductive and degraded forest lands in Turkey. Among these activities rather comprehensive pine plantations (Pinııs bruıia, P. ııigra, P. pinea, P. pinasıert have alsa been earried out around IstanbuL. During the plantatian establishment, especially at the begining, neccessary attention has not been paid to the seed origin. For a long time the Marmara region pine plantatiorıs have been severely affected by diseases which was followed by needle lass and dying of individuals and tree groups. Forest health have the foremost importance, especially in the forests surrounding the city such as Istanbul Fatih Forest. With this artiele the growth and stand structure properties of plantatian forests of pine species together with an oak forest( Quercus [raineııo ) which has the most extensive area among the naıive speeies were examined, as well as silvieultural evaluation and recommendations were made.
