Sequoiadeııdron giganteum trees which can be seen only in some parts of America today, are known to have widespread according to paieontoiogic discoveries, in Asia, Europa and America during geological eras of Tertiary. This study mainly deals with xyloiogic characteristics of fossil wood specimen vvhich have been obtained from Iignite mine in İstanbul. As a result of the analysis, the fossil speciınens appear belong to S. giganteum.
