This study represents one o fth e first provenance test (origin trail) in the country vvhich was applied by Picea orientalis. Provenances were selected considering the vvhole natural distribution of this species in the country, and cones were collected by ourselves. The sample plots were established in Belgrad Forest. Some qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the provenances vvere measured and analysed. According to the findings, the best grovving, and the most suitable origins from the esthetical and christmas tree point of vievv for the parks and gardens of İstanbul vvere chosen. In addition recomendations vvere made in order to use them in the experiments vvhich vvould be carried out in the different elevations of VVestern Black sea section.
