W hen landscape plans in both urban and rural areas are being designed and put into practice, the indigenousvegetation cover should be used, because it breaks the m onotony o f the fam iliar hybrids produced by man and adds variety to the com position o f vegetation. In addition, if suitable indigenous species are used, this increases the chance of success o f the project as a whoIe. A s well as this, it is more Iogical and econom ic to carry out a project in this way since it reduces expenses and the am ount o f care needed. Because o f the rich variety o f indigenous species, there is great potential for the study area. It is necessary to identify the types o f vegetation which can be used in the zones o f the study area-the river banks, forest, m ountainside, sandy beach-in order to select suitable species both from a functional and an econom ic point o f view. T h is research has been concerned w ith the identification o f the trees, shrubs and other plants for the im plem entation o f a landscape plan for Çilingoz Bay.
