Automatic landscape irrigation is one of the rapid growing sectors in Turkey. Unfair competition among the contractors due to lack of technical knowledge and minimum irrigation standards by clients influences this sector adversely. As a result of unnecessary competition, overall sector is fınancially suffering since producers try to follow the certain standards that are not comprehended by the clients and contractors. In this study, minimum standards related to the design of the automatic irrigation systems, material selection, installation as well as follow up service and their maintenance are reviewed. It is very important that these standards should be updated and revised as a function of changing technologyand life span of the systems.
