Frame saws, band saws and circular sawing machines are used in lamella production. Yield and quality are important in cutting process. Yield has been determined to be Iow because of sawdust loss in cutting process. Sawdust loss quantity va ri es related to sawblades thicknesses. Sawblades thickness and thickness tolerances are important for machine selection of production plant. Thin cutting frame saws are usually used for lamella production in Turkey. B1adesaw thicknesses used in cutting frame saws are 0,8-1,1 mm. Surface quality and uniform thickness have to be ensured in lamella production for convenient adhesion. All provisions have to be considered for surface quality and uniform thickness. Lumber drying is usually prefered for lamella production. As lumber drying periods are longer, lamella drying is much more economicaI. Special slats have to be used to avoid drying marks.
