In this study, effects of surface coatieg m aterials on the resistance to the scratch (SR), abrasion (AR), cigarette burms and staining w ere investigated. M elam ine im pregnated papers (M IP), polyurethane based varnish (PV), polyurethane based lacquer paint (LP), continuous press îam inates (CPL), high pressure Îam inates (IIPL ) and polyvinylchloride sheets (PVC) w ere used as surface coating m aterials for particleboard. The results showed th at scratch and abrasion resistances w ere affected significantly overlay types. Iliglı pressure and continuous press Îam inates had resistant to the staining and burning and had the highest abrasion and scratch resistance values.
