European Union is one of the most important issues in Turkey's agenda in recent years. Especially, there are some positive progresses in the membership process of Turkey. In the context of these processes, all of the sectors are affected by EU laws and adjusted to new conditions. Certainly forestry sector will be adjusted to these improvements. In this article, fırst of all the forest resources of the European Union are explained; then the formation and structure of EU's forest policy, the activities related with forestry and new trends are expressed. And then the effects of enlargement are stressed. Thus, important components that are essential for our country's forestry in the membership process of European Union are discussed.
