Per i-urban woodlands as natural landscapes must be protected, and open space systeme must be created by including these in the town development master plan together with other urban open spaces. The protection, care and restoration of landscape with woodlands depend on the planning of recreation centres. In this study the Research Forest of the Facutly of Forestry, University' of İstanbul has evaluated as arecreation area within the urban open space systeme. Based on the investigations aim at the determination of recreation potential of the area a frame plan has been worked out. The planning principles can be given in five headings; such as land use, use of natural resoures, transportation and settlement, recreation and conservation.
