Preservative-treated wood and wood preservatives contain components that may be toxic to non-target organisms if released into the environment in suffıcient quantities. Numerous studies have been conducted to determine the effccts of wood preservatives released from treated wood and the extent of their subsequent accumulation in the environment. This study reviews the environmental problems regarding wood preservatives and options for recycling treated wood retired from service.
