Prof.D r.E rtuğrul G örcelioğlu, w ho w as head of the D epartm ent of Forest C onstruction and T ransportation, F aculty of F orestry, İstanbul U niversity, has been retired on January 21st 2006. P rof.D r.G örcelioğlu w ho w as born in 1939 started his academ ic career in 1969. H e gave exceptional contributions to Turkish Forestry, torrent and avalanche control, forest construction and transportation Science and practice during 37 years of his acadenıicals life and activities. Prof.D r.E rtuğrul G örcelioğlu is the author, co-author or editör of 15 books, 73 articles, 24 proceeding papers and 19 translations. Scientific perform ance, respectfulness to scientific ethic, studiousness and social personality w ill be a good exam ple for young generations.
