Constituting the major part of wctlands, forested wetlands have a large coverage on the planet, excepting the Antarctica continent. Approximately, three percent of the planet's land area is estimated to be wetlands. of which 60% is considered forested wetlands. Forested wetlands support many plant and animal communities that are rare in other types of ecosystem and therefore have a signifıcant place in the planer's biodiversity. Many endangered plant and animal species fınd suitable habitats in forested wetland ecosystems. The acreage of these unique are as have however been shrinking fast. resulting in great losses in the flora and fauna that these areas have supponed. This paper focuses on the concept of the forested wetland and aims to give information on the forested wetlands of Turkey.
