Forests are important natural resources which have economic and biological values. Therefore, they should be protected carefully. According to Turkish Forest Code (No: 6831), all "forest officers" can protect forests. In practice, forest rangers should take necesarry measures to protect forests. Alsa the general security forees, (The Turkish Police and Gendermeria) have been authorized to take necessary protection measures (e.g. to arrest erirninals, prohibit the public entran ce into the forest) to protect all forest, inCıuding both public and private.
