In Turkey, institutional organisations were formed in 1970's to be responsible for environmental problems. During the period of thirty-fıve years, these organisations and management boards carrying out the duty of environmental protection were subject to endless reforms. The objective ofthese shifts was declared as "to realize the environmental protection projects more effectively", In this article, similar organisations in relation to environmental protection in various countries have been examined in order to determine whether the newly constituted "Ministry of Environment and Forestry" will be able to effectively pursue the objectives that have been characterised by reorganisation measures over the last few decades.
