In this study, total nitrogen (N t), organic carbon, C/N ratio and reaction of soils \vere m easured at depths of 0-5, 5-20 and 20-40 cm in 45-years-old black pine and black Iocust stands, and also in an adjacent open fıeld, \vhich had herbaceous plants but no forest cover, in G olcuk, İsparta. R esults show ed that, in general, total nitrogen, organic carbon, actual and potential acidity values w ere greater in soil from the black Iocust stands than those of other t\vo sam pling fields. B lack pine soils had the greatest C/N ratio, actual and potential acidity.
